REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (June 13, 2014) – Omidyar Network Managing Partner Matt Bannick and Partner Sal Giambanco will participate in an impact investing symposium to be held near the Vatican in Rome, June 16-17, 2014.  Bannick and Giambanco will share with attendees Omidyar Network’s views on how impact investing can help address the needs of the world’s poor and Omidyar Network’s evolution from a foundation to a philanthropic investment firm.

The event is being convened by Catholic Relief Services, the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, and The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.  Business, finance, academic, humanitarian, and faith-based communities including the Catholic Church will discuss core concepts of impact investing, how to actively promote and utilize impact investing in the future, and how impact investing aligns with the mission and social teachings communicated by Pope Francis and others on behalf of the Catholic Church.

The program for the symposium may be found on the conference website, and the event hashtag is #ImpactInvesting2014.
