Omidyar Network believes deeply in the power of the network to inspire innovation, encourage collaboration and accelerate progress. In recognition of the powerful work happening within and among our own network, we launched the Network Award in 2012. In the second year of the award, we were thrilled to receive 21 nominations from portfolio organizations who are collaborating with one another in exciting ways as well as those who are exemplifying the values of the network in their own sectors and communities.
The four winners of this year’s Omidyar Network Award, presented by Pierre Omidyar on May 22nd at the Omidyar Network Executive Forum (ONEF) in San Jose, California, are:
mySociety and Fundación Ciudadano Inteligente, for their ambitious collaboration to create a set of universal, modular, interoperable software components to radically reduce the time and investment required to build a variety of websites and apps that help people monitor governments and politicians.
Global Integrity, for the leading role they’ve played in catalyzing and convening the government transparency and accountability community through a combination of innovative programmatic efforts and the world’s first government transparency and accountability thematic co-working space, the OpenGov Hub in DC.
And finally, in first place, receiving $20,000 to further their critical network building work and an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii to spend time with Pierre and Pam Omidyar, is the Akshara Foundation, in recognition of the leadership, innovation and stewardship they’ve demonstrated and the partnerships and networks they’ve created to engage with and scale their work in public school education in India.
Congratulations to all of our nominees, finalists and winners!
